Eivissa celebrates Book Day on July 23, with a fair on the Passeig de Vara de Rey

The Passeig de Vara de Rey hosts on July 23 the celebration of Book Day with 25 stalls and discounts of 10% in all the books, after the Alarm State due to COVID-19 prevented the celebration of the Feast of Sant Jordi on April 23.

Under the slogan ‘Llibres al carrer’, bookstores, publishers and numerous entities on the island will join this party in s’Alamera, between 6pm and 11pm. In addition, throughout the afternoon there will be a signature of news by their authors.

On this occasion, and to avoid crowding into the current situation, the Ibiza City Council will not organize complementary activities such as ball pagès, storytelling or concerts, which are normally carried out at this celebration.

The Councilor of Culture, Pep Tur, has highlighted the importance of celebrating this day of the book in “a strange year in these times of pandemic that did not allow us to celebrate St. George’s Day normally.” For this reason, he pointed out, “we have joined in the celebration of this day on July 23 to be held in the Catalan countries, and we want to give it the recognition and relevance that litetature has in our society.” The councilor also recalled that the fair will have all the security measures and protocols established by Health.
