On Friday the 26th of May, Ibiza World Heritage will once again play host to the best and brightest in the electronic music scene at IMS Dalt Vila. Rounding up the programme for this, the tenth edition of the International Music Summit, the conference is a must-attend event for musical collaboration and creation and one in which the most celebrated musical talents of the past and present come together to develop and share new ideas. 2017 is a very special year for IMS as it celebrates the tenth anniversary of what is commonly known as the “TED Talks of musical summits”, and not only in Ibiza but also in Los Angeles (IMS Engage), China (IMS Asia-Pacific) and Malta (College), with some very notable global contributions from, for example, the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM), an association created specifically to promote, protect, and preserve the legacy and future of the genre.

For this very reason, on the 26th of May the closing event of the 10th anniversary of IMS will feature some of the most visionary artists working today going back to back, many of them for the first time, on the sensational stage that is Dalt Vila in a one-of-a-kind event both on the island and in the world. Legends the likes of KENLOU, aka Louie Vega and Kenny “Dope” González (Masters at Work) will be plying their trade in a couple of sessions with The Martinez Brothers and the winner of the Resident Advisor Top 100, Dixon. Seth Troxler will be doing likewise alongside Miss Kittin, while the co-founder of IMS and BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong will be performing in Dalt Vila alongside Nicole Moudaber. B Traits vs Jesse Rose, Tale of Us vs Maceo Plex and Ibiza’s Manu González vs Lollino, the winner of BURN Residency, also feature in a line-up that is more worthy of a tenth anniversary celebration.

Ten years of IMS
The International Music Summit is an essential gathering in terms of future musical collaboration, development and creation and features seminaries, debates, master classes and other events spread out over the course of three days, from the 24th to the 26th of May, on the island of Ibiza. The summit is an educational platform that also takes place in Los Angeles, China and Malta and was founded in Ibiza in 2007 by a group of renowned electronic music industry entrepreneurs including Ben Turner, Pete Tong, Danny Whittle, Mark Netto and Simeon Friend.

As Ben Turner states: “Ten years ago the aim of IMS was merely to attempt to give the island of Ibiza, the international destination for the dance music that defines our genre, a more professional image. However the end result was that we wound up holding conferences the world over, from Los Angeles to Shanghai, and have become a reference point in the sector over the course of the ten years of our existence, so all we can do now is celebrate this prodigious decade by looking towards the future rather than the past. The electronic music genre has exploded over this past decade and we are proud to have grown alongside it, in parallel, and in all corners of the globe.”

Over these ten years of existence, IMS has had the pleasure of hosting artists the stature of David Lynch, Quincy Jones, Pet Shop Boys and Chuck D as invitees on its panels, in addition to the top DJs of the moment. Nile Rogers and Giorgio Moroder announced their first collaboration with Daft Punk at IMS Ibiza, as was the musical career of David Lynch. With the support of the delegates, Ben Turner was instrumental in founding the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) at the summit and the “Business Report” annually reveals the global value of the industry over the course of the event. Another of the founding partners, Pioneer DJ, has also been a key figure in the success of the initiative by using it as a platform to announce new and innovative products.

All in all, the 10th edition of the International Music Summit in Ibiza, from the 24th to the 26th of May, 2017 is a not-to-be-missed event.
